Theatre Management focusing on Production

The master’s degree studies of theatre management create theatre managers with an overlap into general art management, with deep knowledge of theatre profiling and management, the position of theatre in society, foundation activities, financing of non-profit organisations in our country and around the world, well versed in in foreign management, reflecting the history and tradition of European theatre and the traditions of its management, with excellent language skills, allowing them to communicate and cooperate with foreign partners in confidence, with an exceptionally advanced knowledge of legal matters and deep knowledge of theatre-related issues (theatre theory and technology)

During their studies, students also meet, among others, with foreign experts in theatre, art and general management in seminars conducted in English. The best students have the opportunity to participate in internships abroad. Students can test their organisational skills during their studies at the national and international level in joint projects in the Marta studio and at the international festival of theatre schools Setkání.

After successfully completing his/her studies the graduate is able to:

  • they are able to write, present, document and evaluate their practical performances with emphasis on their impact on the institution’s internal and external environment;
  • they effectively use their knowledge of the field, the common professional international dictionary and artistic environment (see http://www.theaterwords.com/);
  • they are proficient in English both in verbal and written communication, which is tested in foreign studies or traineeships;
  • they are able to integrate the cultural project in all its aspects into the strategic direction of the institution;
  • they can create strategic intents and translate them into long-term, short-term and operational plans, reflecting the specifics of the environment in which the artistic activity is carried out;
  • in doing so, they apply creative expertise, professional knowledge and methods in the field of management, project management, strategic management, economics and financial management of marketing, law, social sciences and international cultural policy;
  • they also know to use and utilise the right tools for the implementation of these plans;
  • they can design and carry out relevant research for the purpose of data analysis and use the conclusions of such analyses for strategic management;
  • they can creatively use office and presentation applications, work with the Internet and search engines, create websites, work with social networks, as well as with applications for creating mind maps;
  • they also know to apply all these skills in complex strategic management. (ECDL Core M1 – M14)

Students must enrol in and complete courses marked as the field basics. They supplement their study plan with personal specialisation courses from the offer of their studio and the Faculty of Theatre.
