Opera directing

What does the Opera Directing study program offer?

The study program is taught at the multidisciplinary Composition, Conducting and Opera Directing Department, which enables various forms of collaboration between composers and multimedia creators, conductors, choirmasters, opera directors and audio engineers. The Opera Directing studies at FoM JAMU prepare experts in the field of opera production, i.e. directors with a broad theoretical knowledge of the issues of opera art, dramaturgy, and the theory of opera directing. Depending on their individual interests, students can also focus on original projects, musical theatre, or collaborate on projects of the Theatre Faculty, etc.

Where will the graduates of Opera Directing at the Faculty of Music JAMU find employment?

  • as opera directors;
  • as assistant directors;
  • as opera dramaturges;
  • as artistic directors of opera ensembles;
  • as creators of their own projects and publicists;
  • as teachers at all levels of music education.

If graduates of bachelor’s degree programmes from other schools are interested in studying this programme, they can apply for entrance examination, take the bridging examination and, after successfully passing both of them, advance directly to the fourth year of studies at JAMU.
