Recognition of Education

Foreign higher education and qualifications are recognised in accordance with Section 89(1) of Act No 111/1998, on higher education institutions and amending other acts.

On 1 September 2016, Act No 137/2016, which amends and supplements the Higher Education Institutions Act, enters into effect, introducing the applicant’s obligation to pay a fee of CZK 3,000.

Procedure for the recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications

A graduate of a foreign university submits a written application to the study department of JAMU Brno.

The following documents must be annexed to the application for recognition of foreign higher education:

  • an officially certified copy of the diploma;
  • an officially certified copy of the list of examinations or the diploma supplement;
  • official translations of both documents into the Czech language;
  • proof of payment of the fee for acts related to the procedure on the application for recognition of foreign higher education and qualifications, which amounts to CZK 3,000.

JAMU will assess the application and compare the study programmes. It will issue a decision, which is accompanied by a certificate of recognition of foreign higher education, which it sends to the applicant with a return receipt.

If the Rector does not grant the application, he shall issue a decision rejecting the application.

Applicants from abroad shall pay
the fee either directly in Czech Koruna or in foreign currency so that the resulting amount, after deducting all fees for foreign
currency exchange, is CZK 3,000.
Use only type A postal order to pay the fee by postal order.
Enter the name and surname of the applicant in the message for the recipient.
